Santa Paws was Great Fun!

Hello Puppers ~
We had so much fun this weekend with the Santa Paws photos! It was a little cold for the humans, but perfect weather for the huskies!

Here’s R.J. posing with Santa ~ check out that big husky smile…

Thanks to our “Santas” Pat and Chris ~ they did a wonderful job of keeping our canine visitors focused and all the photos turned out great. Thanks to all our volunteers for their help throughout the weekend.

We had a lot of fun catching up with some of our MaPaw alums. Everyone looked great and proved that MaPaw really does have an awesome extended family!

We’re looking forward to Santa Paws for next year! Hopefully it will be a little warmer for the humans…

Juno

Age: 5 Years
Sex: Male
Size: Average

Congratulations Juno!!!

Juno is a handsome five-year-old black and white Siberian with baby blue eyes who loves to walk and run with people (on leash of course) and just be part of the family. He loves tug of war and chasing balls. Juno is smart ~ he knows sit, rollover and paw. He is a friendly boy and does jump up as a friendly gesture if allowed. For this reason, we recommend a home with children eight years and older.

Juno was a happy part of a family of four, which over time became a one-person home. Juno missed the household activity and his remaining person had to travel frequently so he spent much of his time in kennels resulting in anxiety.

Juno is looking for a home where he can be part of the family and enjoy everyone. He has an excellent temperament and is friendly with people and other dogs. He has a moderate energy level, although he lives up to the husky name and is a counter-surfer and will escape if allowed the opportunity.

Juno’s human loves him very much, but he knows it is in Juno’s best interest to belong to a household that will give him the time and attention this social boy thrives on. If you have an opening for a fantastic companion and friend, please ask for more information about this wonderful Siberian.

Ben is Home!!!

Hello Puppers ~
Ben was finally discharged from the hospital yesterday and is happy to be home. The doctor and staff at Schwenksville Veterinary Hospital were amazing with the surgery and Ben’s aftercare. They wanted to make sure that Ben was able to find his center of gravity and keep his balance to walk about. They kept him an extra 2 days so that they could work one on one with Ben to make sure that he was able to get around without injury. While Ben is still having difficulty getting around, he’s getting better at it each day.

Here’s a photo of him hanging out with his furry siblings ~

We’re so proud of Ben for being so strong throughout this ordeal. He really is a special guy and we are looking forward to spoiling him. Amazingly, he enjoys wearing his t-shirt ~ it’s to protect his sutures, but he thinks it’s a fashion statement… And he loves chilling in his “apartment” as long as there is a human near to talk to him.

Please keep Ben in your thoughts.

Welcome home, Ben!!!

Sibe Vibes Needed for MaPaw Resident, Ben

Ben came to MaPaw about 2 years ago after being surrendered to a local shelter when his owner became too ill to care for him. Since day one, Ben has been a gracious guest. Ben was so happy to be out of the shelter and part of a family again. To fully understand just how special Ben is, you only have to spend five minutes with him. He is such a gentle soul who wants nothing more than to be your best bud. Recently, his foster Mom noticed that Ben had been limping and a vet appointment was quickly made. Yesterday (November 16th) we found out that Ben has bone cancer in his left front leg. Unfortunately, the prognosis for Ben is not good ~ this is an aggressive cancer. While we can not change his quantity of time left with MaPaw, we chose to improve the quality of the time we have left. This morning (November 17th), Ben underwent surgery to amputate his front leg. After consultation with the doctor, we felt this was the best option for Ben. Even in all of the extreme pain that Ben was in, he was happy for belly scratches and hugs. He is a special guy that will be spoiled for the time he has left with MaPaw. We are all heartbroken, but we are grateful for whatever time we have left to spend with Ben. Please keep Ben in your thoughts. Ben made it through surgery and was recovering nicely when we checked on him post surgery. He should be able to come home tomorrow and we can’t wait!

Ashleigh

Age: Approximately 12 Years
Sex: Female
Size: Average

Our dear Ashleigh has begun her journey North of the Rainbow Bridge. In the past few days, she had become very weak and could not get up on her own. We tried everything to help keep her comfortable. When Ashleigh began to cry because she couldn’t get up and scream when we would try to help her up, we knew she was ready. She was surrounded by love and passed peacefully.

Sweet Ashleigh ~ know that you are greatly missed and loved by many. Wear your silver harness proudly as you dance among the stars, free of pain. Candles are lit. ~ July 9, 2011

Click here to check out my video on YouTube!

Ashleigh is a sweet old gal who was found wandering the streets of Philadelphia exhausted and looking for food to fill her empty tummy and someplace where she could rest and be safe. At first it was thought she was totally blind, however, our vets tell us she can see some shadows and brightness. Ashleigh is a trooper! She has adapted to her handicap wonderfully and uses her hearing to compensate for her lack of sight.

Ashleigh is happy and comfortable in her foster home and has a routine that is comforting to her. She requires two different eye drops three times a day. Ashleigh is happy and settled and will remain a MaPaw resident where we can love her and provide the medical attention she requires.

Ashleigh is currently on eye medication that runs $60.00 every 2 – 3 weeks. A high price to pay, but certainly worth it for this loving special one.

Well, It’s About Time…

Hello Puppers ~
I have been waiting a long time to write this post. I can’t believe that it has taken over a year, but it has finally happened. What happened???

Diesel was adopted today!!!

That’s right. After patiently waiting for 15 months for his very own furever home, Diesel found the perfect family. He will be greatly missed by his foster parents, but they are ecstatic that he finally found his furever home.

Congratulations Diesel! We can’t wait for updates…

One Pup Finds a Home, Another Finds His Way to MaPaw

Good evening Puppers ~
This week is shaping up to be a very busy week for MaPaw ~ in a good way, of course!

Yesterday, Boomer joined his furever family. We are so happy for him ~ just look how happy he and his new family are!

What a perfect fall adoption photo!

Now, meet the new guy ~ Ozzie! This young pup is approximately a year old and is full of husky energy! He will certainly keep you on your toes and would do best in a home with a canine companion to help him stay out of trouble!

Click here to learn more about Ozzie. He is one cool pup you should get to know!

Ozzie

Age: Approximately 2 Years
Sex: Male
Size: Average

Congratulations Ozzie!!!

Click here to check out my video on YouTube!

Ozzie is a striking black and white 2-year-old male Siberian with brilliant blue eyes that has made so many friends and admirers in our rescue. He came into MaPaw last fall ~ full of fun and spunk. If there was fun and mischief happening, Ozzie was no doubt involved and enjoying every minute.

Ozzie is a Siberian youngster that is very intelligent and he has matured nicely. He is an affectionate boy that has become a wonderful pet and excellent companion. He is great with people and loves his crate.

Ozzie is good with other dogs his size or larger, however, cannot be around smaller pets or cats. He should be in a home with another active canine companion and a secure six foot fenced-in yard to play in.

It’s a joy having Ozzie in rescue, yet we want to find him his perfect forever home where he will belong and be part of the family. Someone is going to be very lucky and have a wonderful new best friend that will love to hang out with them and share the good times. Could this be you?

Meet Our Newest Boys

Hello Puppers ~
We’ve added 2 new pups to the site today ~ Kita and Mason.

Kita’s story is a sad one, but we hope he will get his very own happy tail soon. Kita joined us when his Mom became too ill to care for him. He is an active 3 year old that loves to play with humans and other pups. Check out his video ~ it will certainly make you laugh while you watch him bouncing around chasing a ball! Kita is such a great boy and we hope that he will get his chance at a furever home soon.

Mason had spent almost 2 months of his short life in a shelter. When we first met him, he was full of energy and full of himself… He’s now been in his foster home for a little over a month and he’s become a better behaved pup (that still thinks he can take on the world…). He is such a smart boy ~ learning his manners and he is already crate trained. He would do best in a home with another active pup to keep him company.

Contact MaPaw if you are interested in learning more about either of these pups!

Mason

Age: 18 Months
Sex: Male
Size: Average

Congratulations Mason!!!

Mason is a handsome and happy Siberian Husky/Collie mix that is approximately 1.5 years old just waiting to be someone’s new best friend!

This young man is a joy to be around ~ He is the perfect size (60 pounds), great with kids and loves other dogs his size and larger. He is crate trained and housetrained and knows his basic commands. He is truly a good ambassador in his foster home and just loves everyone.

Mason loves to carry on a conversation with anyone interested in his opinions and will bark briefly to alert of any newcomers at the door or on the property. He is good on a leash and he just loves to cuddle – perfect for those upcoming cooler nights!

If you are looking for a companion that is sure to make you smile, Mason may be the perfect match for you!
