Happy New Year!!

Good evening Puppers ~

We hope you all enjoyed your holidays!

It’s been a bit busy here at MaPaw. We had a few pups join us before the holidays and 2 lucky pups found their furever homes just in time to welcome 2010 with their new families!

Natasha, Kita, Duncan, Maxie and Kito all joined their MaPaw foster homes shortly before the holidays.

Our first pup to find his furever home was Max. His little “adventure” has come full circle. Originally found by a good samaritan after he had been hit by a car, he was taken to the local shelter. As soon as MaPaw was contacted about Max, emergency arrangements were made and he was soon on his way to recovery and a chance at a new life. After 9 weeks of rest and rehab, young Max was ready to join his furever family. This lucky little boy made his way back to the good samaritan that found him. Without her quick action, we don’t know what would have happened to young Max. It broke her heart to leave him at the shelter, but she knew she had to give his owners a chance to find him. When she learned that nobody had come forward and that he had been transferred to rescue, she immediately contacted MaPaw and started the application process. As soon as he was cleared for adoption, he couldn’t wait to join his new family!

Young Alina also found her furever home. In fact, she hitched a ride with Max since he was heading in the same direction. Originally found as a stray, she quickly made herself at home in her foster home. This beautiful little lady made friends everywhere she went. Now she is making herself comfortable in her furever home!

Congrats to Max and Alina!!

Thanks to everyone for all of their support throughout 2009. We had the pleasure of meeting many great pups and helping many find their furever families. We are looking forward to meeting and helping even more in 2010!

Just In Time For The Howlidays!!

Hello Puppers ~
I’d like to introduce you to Maxie. Her story is a sad one that has taken a turn for the better (way way better).

While we were only contacted a couple of days ago about Maxie, she had been at the shelter since October! Apparently, the home she was living in went into foreclosure. One day without warning, her family just picked up and left…without Maxie!

Luckily for her, a neighbor noticed that poor Maxie had been left behind and took her to the shelter. The shelter cared for her, but they knew that her chances of being adopted were slim because of her age. Can you guess how old she is? Can you believe that this beauty is 14 years old????

When we heard her story, we knew that we had to make room for her. We put an emergency plea out to our volunteers and several stepped forward to get this girl in a home for the holidays. Soon this little lady was on her way to her foster home. We are told by her foster Mum that she is a peanut and so full of love to give. At 14, she was eager to play with the other pups in her foster home. She just joined her foster home last night, so she is settling in and is very happy to be a part of a family again.

Welcome Maxie and thank you to everyone who helped get this gal into a home for the howlidays!!!

BTW ~ just in case I don’t get a chance to post again before the holidays… We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!!!

Who’s The Handsome Redhead?

Hello Puppers ~
We have another furry member of MaPaw to tell you about! Meet Duncan…

Duncan is only 19 months old and he has already had 3 homes! Can you believe it? It appears that he is just a typical Husky pup that has been misunderstood. He’s full of energy and is looking for a Siberian savvy home that will give him the guidance he needs.

He recently joined his foster family, so we are giving him some time to settle in. Check out sibes.com to find out more about Duncan. We don’t yet have his bio on the site, but we hope to have it available very soon!

MaPaw Welcomes 2 Gals!

Hello Puppers ~
We have 2 new gals that have joined the MaPaw family.

Little Miss Kita had been brought to the shelter by her family when their situation changed. The shelter became concerned for her when she stopped eating. This poor gal was clearly missing her family. When MaPaw heard her story, we knew we needed to make room for her. She’s 4 years old and has a great personality. Kita just joined her foster family, so she is still settling in. Check sibes.com to learn more about Kita. Since she just joined MaPaw, her bio isn’t on the site yet, but should be very soon!

Poor Natasha is a victim of divorce. When her family split, she found herself with nowhere to go. This 12 year old beauty is full of life and is quickly making friends at her foster home. She is well mannered and is enjoying the company of her new foster brothers. She just joined her foster home on Friday, so she is still settling in. Check sibes.com to learn more about Natasha. Her bio isn’t on the site yet, but should be very soon!!

Welcome Kita and Natasha!!

BTW ~ I heard rumors that we pups in PA are supposed to be getting some snow tomorrow!! I can’t wait!!!

Who’s That Handsome Fella?

Hello Puppers ~
Take a look at this handsome pup looking for his furever home…

Meet Indian. He was found wandering the streets ~ maybe searching for his family. He patiently waited at the shelter for his family, but they never came to pick him up. When we were contacted by the shelter, we welcomed Indian into the MaPaw family with open arms.

He’s been settling in with his foster Dad and making himself comfortable. We estimate that Indian is 2- 3 years old. He’s a tall boy full of that husky energy!

To learn more about Indian, check out his bio!

I Got a New Cousin!!!

Hey Puppers ~
It’s been a bit since I last wrote ~ sorry about that. I’ve been busy with my holiday shopping…

Remember Rio ~ the pup I wrote about in my last post? Last weekend, my Mum’s sister and her husband adopted him! It took them not even 2 minutes to fall in love with him! He is so cute and such a good boy ~ how could they not?? His new name is Miles and he’s certainly enjoying his life as a spoiled pup!

He’s coming to visit us tomorrow and I can’t wait to meet him!

BTW ~ we have some new pups coming in. Hopefully I’ll be posting about them in the next couple of days…

MaPaw Welcomes 2 New Pups!!

Good evening Puppers ~
We at MaPaw hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving howliday with your families! We have 2 more reasons to be thankful this week.

On Wednesday evening, Rio joined his new foster family. He had been found as a stray and waited patiently for his family to come to the shelter to take him home before the howlidays. Nobody ever came to pick him up and he wanted nothing more than to be in a house for Thanksgiving. Luckily, one of our foster homes stepped forward and Rio was soon on his way. He is settling in and getting to know his new routine.

We are getting to know this handsome fella, so please check out www.sibes.com soon for updates on Rio!

On Friday, some of our brave volunteers fought against Black Friday shopping traffic to bring another pup to her foster family. You may have seen the news stories about the 100 sled dogs removed from a Canadian home earlier this month. Papillon is 1 of those many pups!

Check out those ears! She is estimated to be about a year old. She is a friendly, petite gal. She seems to be settling in well at her foster home. She gets along with her foster siblings and enjoys being petted.

If you check out her video, you can see that she certainly enjoys the comfort of the sofa!

Please check out www.sibes.com for updates on Papillon as we get to know her!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hello Puppers ~

It’s so hard to believe that it’s already time for Thanksgiving!! Almost all of the leaves have fallen from the trees and it will soon be time for Sibe weather (and hopefully lots of snow!!).

We at MaPaw have so much to be thankful for. We are thankful to our members and volunteers that support us throughout the year and allow us to do all that we do.

We are thankful to our foster homes who repeatedly open their homes and their hearts to pups in need.

We are thankful to the many families that have chosen to adopt their new fur family member from rescue. We are thankful for those that have come to MaPaw in search of a new family member.

We are thankful for all of the amazing pups that we have been able to bring into the MaPaw family. And we are overjoyed and thankful when we are able to help those pups find their furever homes.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families!

This Weekend Went to the Seniors

Good evening Puppers ~
As you may know, November is Adopt-A-Senior-Pet month. We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than dedicating an entire weekend to our beloved seniors!

The weekend started on Friday the 13th with Triska. This 13-year old beauty had been brought to the shelter as a stray and paced her kennel looking for her family. Unfortunately, nobody ever came forward to take this gal home. She clearly wasn’t comfortable at the shelter and seemed quite anxious, so the shelter quickly contacted MaPaw for assistance. Tom and Ann stepped forwarded and were soon on their way to pick her up. She was slowly becoming more comfortable in her new surroundings ~ she was clearly enjoying all of the TLC she was being showered with by Tom and Ann.

On Sunday, Triska had 2 seizures. She was taken to University of Penn and after some testing, she was sent home. Soon after they arrived home, she had another seizure. Back to University of Penn they went ~ this time she was kept overnight. She’s back home now and is on medication to help control the seizures. She’s doing better now and we are so very grateful to Tom and Ann for their dedication to Triska. Please send Sibe Vibes to Triska!!

On Saturday, Rosie said goodbye to her Mum and made her way to her new furever home. Rosie had lived much of her 7 years outside due to the age and health of her owners. Although it broke her Mum’s heart, she wanted Rosie to be part of a family where she could spend her days inside on a warm, soft bed. With tears in her eyes, she said her goodbyes and gave Rosie a soft kiss on the top of her head.

Mary and her Mother were so excited to finally meet Rosie! They had looked at her photos on the site, had read her bio and had talked to Deb (the MaPaw member that had been working with Rosie) and anxiously waited for her arrival. It didn’t take Rosie long at all to make herself comfortable and everyone was all smiles!

We can’t wait for updates!

On Sunday, Falcor joined his foster home. He was originally found as a stray and had been at the shelter for a while. The shelter had become concerned about the stiffness Falcor seemed to be experiencing and turned to MaPaw for help. The shelter also told us that he was a bit shy but would warm up after some pets.

Here he is on his way to his foster home.

It’s hard to tell from this photo, but Falcor is a little peanut! Here’s a photo of him with his foster brother, Juno, so you can get an idea of how small he is…

Not only is Falcor small, but he’s also very underweight. No need to worry though ~ his foster Mum is going to make sure that this guy puts on the pounds!! He’s becoming more comfortable in his new surroundings and is even greeting his foster Mum with wags and a couple kisses! We are so proud of him!

Welcome Triska and Falcor! Congratulations Rosie and her new family!

Be sure to spread the word ~ November is Adopt-A-Senior-Pet Month!!

Catching Up…

Good evening Puppers ~
We just love when we get updates from our pups! And we have some great ones to share with you!

Do you guys remember Halo? He joined MaPaw after he turned up at a shelter as a stray. This poor guy was underweight and filthy. He needed a bath, some good food and a soft bed. Soon after joining his foster family, Halo was ready to begin his search for his furever home. And it didn’t take him long to find it! His Mum reports that he is making friends everywhere he goes. Lucky Halo has a dog park where he can go to run off some of his Husky energy! Here’s a pic of him with a friend he made at the dog park over the summer…

Dakota had been with MaPaw for a long time, which was okay cause he needed a lot of extra TLC. When he came to MaPaw, he was VERY shy and had no confidence. With a lot of patience, love and understanding, Dakota was finally ready to begin his search for a furever home. Even though he had come such a long way, we knew that Dakota would still require a special home that understood his past and were willing to give him the encouragement he needed to feel comfortable in his new home. When Janet and her family contacted us about Dakota, we knew that they would be the perfect home for him! He’s settled in and is becoming more comfortable each day thanks to his family and his sibeling, Bianca. Here’s a pic of Dakota resting with his Sis..

It’s been just over a month since Mischa and Casino found their furever home together. Mischa is a 12 year old spunky gal whose Mum had brought her to the Hike N Howl to meet with MaPaw to see if we could help her. Her Mum had to move unexpectedly and had no choice but to board Mischa in hopes of finding another solution. After a year of boarding, Mischa’s Mum knew she would do so much better in a home. Although they had applied (and been approved) to adopt Casino, Chris and Ed offered to foster Mischa. Shortly after joining their house, they chose to make theirs her furever home. No need to worry for Casino ~ once Mischa settled in her new home, she got herself one handsome brother! Mischa and Casino are loving life now and their family is loving being a 2-Husky house! Here’s pics of them hanging out in their home…

Our last update of the night is Matrix. Matrix was found as a stray and amazingly nobody ever came forward to take him home. He quickly settled into his foster home. Matrix first met his furever family at a meet and greet where it was love at first sight. Recently, Matrix graduated his Beginner Obedience class. He was the first of the class to be tested and he passed with flying colors! Here’s a pic of him with his cap…

And here’s a pic of his diploma…

Congratulations Matrix!

We are so proud of all of our alumni and we love to hear what they are up to!
