Kira

Age: 8 Months
Sex: Female
Size: Average

Congratulations Kira!!!

Kira is an eight month old Siberian husky female that is new to the MaPaw family. This pup is a spirited little red head that is full of life and kisses! She gets along with all dogs and people alike…if she had a motto it would be “do you wanna play, play, play???”. Kira’s favorite things include: food, playing, kisses, squeaky toys and daily trips to the dog park.

Kira is very true to the breed and will need a sibe-savvy home with another active canine companion. In addition, Kira is still very much a puppy and will require a home with the patience and time to guide and train her so that she may blossom into a wonderful adult.

If you are up to the husky puppy challenge and think Kira would be perfect for your pack, what are you waiting for? Kira’s ready to play!!!

Moe

Age: 14 Months
Sex: Male
Size: Average

Congratulations Moe!!!

Click here to check out my video on YouTube!

Moe had some very bad luck and then his luck changed. It started when his owner died and Moe lost his family and his home. Then he got loose and was struck by a car. Thankfully a Good Samaritan provided the necessary surgery and then asked if we could provide future care and recuperation. Of course, we opened our arms to this sweet guy.

Moe is a very handsome 14-month-old Siberian puppy with Agouti coloring (www.huskycolors.com/agouti.html). He is very friendly with people of all ages and other dogs. Despite the discomfort Moe must have been in, he met us with tail wags, a big Siberian grin and plenty of kisses. The hardest part of Moe’s care will be keeping him quiet for the next six to eight weeks while he heals.

Moe is healing nicely and when vet approved, he will be ready to find a furever home where he can be a VIP (very important pooch). Of course, he will need a safe and secure home to keep him safe and sound.

Van

Age: 9 Years
Sex: Male
Size: Average

Congratulations Van!!!

Click here to check out my video on YouTube!

Van is a very special Siberian who we are extremely proud of. He came into Rescue almost two years ago ~ a middle age, low-key Siberian we all fell in love with. Shortly thereafter, he was diagnosed with Perianal Gland Cancer. We were devastated, but were assured it was treatable with surgery and chemo treatment and Van would not experience adverse reactions. It was very expensive, but we couldn’t say no to Van.

Van has been cancer free and in remission 19 months! He does need to be checked periodically to make sure he remains cancer free. He is a wonderful, affectionate Siberian and his foster mom calls him a “Siberian throw rug”. He is just happy to be near you and hang out or share a good movie.

“Van Man” or “Big Red” ~ any name you want to call him, this guy is a trooper and real winner!! He has won his battle with cancer and now he only needs a permanent home to call his own.

Please feel free to contact us for more information and details about Van.

Our heartfelt thank woos to everyone who supported Van and sent well wishes and sibe vibes. Thanks to you, we are able to help these wonderful dogs.

An extra special thank you to Dr. Jeglum and Veterinary Oncology Services and Radiation Center of West Chester and Chalfont for taking such wonderful care of our special sibe!

Slayer

Age: 5 Years
Sex: Male
Size: Average

Congratulations Slayer!!!

Click here to check out my video on YouTube!

Slayer is a handsome five-year-old gray and white Siberian with an “open” mask who fancies himself as a true lover! In fact, this husky boy considers himself a lap dog and just loves to cuddle. Unfortunately, Slayer is a victim of the economy and is looking for a new home to call his own.

Slayer’s two most favorite things in the world are going for walks and getting any kind of attention! He knows basic commands and like most huskies, he loves to dig. He has been known to dig out under fences and will need to be in a secure setting where he will be safe and sound with his new family.

If you are interested in adding a loyal and affectionate companion to your life, please consider Slayer. This sweet and affectionate husky is going to make someone very happy!

Sadie

Age: Approximately 3 Years
Sex: Female
Size: Medium

Congratulations Sadie!!!

Click here to check out my video on YouTube!

Sadie is a young lady of mystery ~ her past is unknown as well as her breed makeup. One thing is certain, this charming little girl is happy to be alive and will shower you with kisses!

Sadie “may” have some Siberian in her ~ if you squint ~ but we could not say “no” to such a wonderful dog. She did have us stumped however, and research leads us to believe that she is an Ibizan Hound mix. We checked with those folks and they have agreed they see their breed in her. It is curious, yet doesn’t matter; Sadie is a good dog that has captured our hearts.

Sadie is good with other dogs and loves people. It is our initial opinion that she would be best in a home with no kids under ten. She can be a little reserved with strangers, but quickly warms up. We suspect she may have had a hard life prior to coming into rescue and possibly suffered some abuse.

We are enjoying getting to know Sadie and she is blossoming with TLC. Please feel free to contact us to learn more about this sweetheart.

Riley

Age: 3 Years
Sex: Male
Size: Average

Courtesy Post for A Buddy for Life

Congratulations Riley!!!

Riley was found as a stray on Thanksgiving Day by a woman who decided to befriend him and take him in. She discovered quickly that he was blind. She wanted to keep him but her landlord would not allow her to do so.

Since then, Riley has been in the care of “A Buddy for Life”, a Delaware dog rescue. He has been to a specialist, Dr. Bowersox at the Veterinary Specialty Center. Riley has been diagnosed with Uveodermatologic Syndrome. US is an immune-mediated disease where the body inappropriately attacks its own pigment producing cells. He has very limited vision in his right eye and none in his left. Riley did have some inflammation in both eyes but with the help of antibiotic drops, they have cleared up. Dr. Bowersox strongly believes that Riley can live a long happy life with this condition. However, he did suggest that his eyes be watched and checked yearly.

Although Riley is blind, he has learned to rely on his other senses. He doesn’t allow his handicap to hold him back. He’s a quick learner and it doesn’t take him long to figure out where things are and how to avoid them.

Riley is three years old, housebroken, crate trained and knows several commands. He would do well in a home by himself, or with other dogs that are the same size or larger but NO CATS. He has no issue with children. Due to his limited sight he might be better off with older children than smaller children. This sweet boy is still looking for a forever home that will allow him to give unconditional love back.

Riley is a courtesy posting – if interested in knowing more about this amazing dog, please email A Buddy for Life at info@abuddyforlife.org.

Nieko

Age: 7 Years
Sex: Male
Size: Average

Congratulations Nieko!!!

Nieko is a handsome red and white husky that has traveled a long and hard road and we are truly amazed by him. He was found wandering on a road in the Poconos area ~ tired, alone and very underweight. Sadly, we will never know Nieko’s past but we do know he is safe and happy now and his future will be even better when he finds that perfect home.

Nieko is indeed amazing. He is a little shy at first and we suspect there was abuse/neglect in his past. True to the breed, he absolutely loves children. Unlike most huskies, he not only tolerates cats, but enjoys their company (NOTE: all cats are different and this is true with the two he lives with now, but caution must be exercised with any other possible feline friends). He does exhibit the Siberian prey drive with outdoor animals.

Nieko is housebroken and trustworthy in the house. He is currently being treated for a urinary tract infection (UTI) which has occurred in the past. Current testing has identified the cause and he is now being specifically treated for the condition. He preferably will go to a home where he will be allowed potty breaks every four or so hours.

Poor Nieko doesn’t seem to know how to play right now; he probably never had a chance. He seems to want to meet and play with dogs he meets on walks, but he was very distressed by loud dogs in a shelter situation. He may be best placed in a home with a quiet dog or as an only dog.

Stay tune for more about this gentle, loving Siberian and the latest vet report ~ our paws are crossed that all is AOK!

Lucky

Age: 13 Years
Sex: Female
Size: Average

Our dear Lucky has begun her final journey North of the Rainbow Bridge. In the past couple weeks, she had been getting weaker and more tired. It was clear that she could no longer fight. She passed peacefully surrounded by those that love her. Wear your silver harness proudly sweet girl. Dance among the stars free of pain. We miss you so much. This is not goodbye, it is simply until we meet again. ~ February 12, 2011

Click here to check out my video on YouTube!

Lucky has been with MaPaw for about a year and a half. She is now 13 and looks like a peanut compared to some of the big dogs on the farm. She’s a bit of a loner and likes to have her safe zone (which happens to be the bathroom upstairs with a nice comfy bed and hidden stash of treats just for her). She has made great strides interacting with people and the visitors to the farm have certainly helped her.

Lucky is a special girl, but she is getting older and weaker. We’ve decided that it is time to remove Lucky from “available” status into our Husky Hospice program. Husky Hospice is for those pups who need a quiet space, a warm bed, good food, kind words and lots of hugs and kisses to fill the time they have left. We like to think of it as our final gift to them for giving their unconditional love and devotion.

Lucky will live out her days on the farm where she is comfortable and knows she is safe and loved.

Kya

Age: 10 Months
Sex: Female
Size: Average

Congratulations Kya!!!

Click here to check out my video on YouTube!

Kya is a happy, high-energy ten-month-old Siberian puppy that just wants to have fun! She loves long walks, running in the park (on leash of course) and car rides. She is playful with everyone and already knows sit, give me paw and get in crate.

Kya is a typical Siberian puppy and will chew and jump up on people. She will need somebody that will be devoted to her and her training as she matures. She is crate trained and should be crated when left alone.

If you are up for the husky challenge, consider this sweetie. Due to her high energy level and tender age, she will be best placed in a dog/sibe savvy home with a secure, fenced yard to play in with another canine playmate. A tired husky pup is a good pup!

Kito

Age: 14 Years
Sex: Male
Size: Average

Our beloved Kito has begun his journey North of the Rainbow Bridge. When Kito first joined MaPaw, he was a frail boy that had given up on life. Once in our care, he blossomed and learned to love life again. In the past couple of weeks, he began having trouble walking and getting up. We tried every treatment offered by the vet to help with his arthritis and discomfort. We thought we were making progress and suddenly he could no longer get up without assistance. When he began to stumble, fall and cry in pain ~ we knew it was time. Surrounded by love and in his foster Mum’s arms, Kito went to sleep and passed peacefully.

Kito ~ wear your silver harness proudly. You have touched many hearts and will be greatly missed. You are now free of pain and can dance among the stars. ~ August 13, 2011

Click here to check out my video on YouTube!

Kito is twelve years old and is a very sad Siberian who we immediately fell in love with. His human daddy died days before Christmas and Kito was delivered to the shelter. Of course, he is mourning his daddy and has no idea what went wrong. At the shelter, he went into shock and could not eat or drink.

Kito came into our rescue after an emergency phone call from the shelter and this sad Siberian was welcomed by all. Despite the weakness and malnutrition, he greeted us and just laid his tired head in our lap ~ and captured our hearts.

Kito is undergoing tests and bloodwork and we are thrilled ~ so far all results are good! He is dehydrated and is being given fluids by the rescue vets. He is expected to go to his foster home in the next day or two for much needed comforting and TLC.

Please check back for updates on Kito’s progress – this darling is expected to bloom once again and will be looking for someone to love.

UPDATE – May 2010

Kito has blossomed with love and attention. He has gained much needed weight and has learned to love life again. His favorite pastimes are car rides and hanging out on the couch with his humans. Granted, he can’t quite jump up there on his own yet, but there is always a helping hand ready to help him up for cuddling. He is growing stronger day by day and will even offer a play-bow or two to the other dogs.

We are happy to report that Kito’s bloodwork and all tests have come back with wonderful results. We have determined that the “old guy” is deaf, but we just give him plenty of kisses instead of kind words.
