MaPaw Welcomes 3 New Boys

Hello Puppers ~
On May 13th, Mobi joined his MaPaw foster home. He had been found as a stray and became a guest of our local shelter. This pup took over the least coveted spot of “heaviest MaPaw pup” by beating the previous holder of that title (Trudi) by 3 pounds. This big guy weighed in at 110 pounds!

A trip to the vet and blood tests revealed that Mobi is hypothyroid. Now that he’s on medication and a healthy diet, we’re hoping that he’ll be able to shed those unwanted pounds. Mobi is lucky enough to have canine housemates that will keep him active in his quest to become a healthier weight. This poor guy can barely get up on the sofa…

Once Mobi gets to a healthier weight, he’ll be able to begin his search for a forever family.

The next pup to join us was Baron. This handsome red and white pup is just 3 years old. He came to us because his family was splitting up and nobody wanted him. We still can’t understand why. He is one of the sweetest pups we have ever met.

One of the first orders of business was to get this young man neutered and boy is it a good thing we did. Immediately following the surgery, the doctor called us. One of Baron’s testicles was very hard, which concerned him so he wanted to send a biopsy out for testing. Test results showed that the testicle had contained cancer. The good news is that when his testicle was removed, the cancer was completely contained and was no longer an issue.

Baron is getting along well with his canine housemates, enjoying games of chase in the yard. He also enjoys quality time with the humans in his foster home.

Now that we know Baron is healthy, we can focus on finding Baron his forever family. His bio should be up on our site in the next couple of days.

The third pup that joined MaPaw is Foxer. Foxer is a 10 year old Husky mix (maybe Collie?) that found himself at a local shelter when his guardian could no longer care for him. Sadly, this poor guy kept getting passed by because of his age and the shelter became overcrowded. We happily welcomed Foxer to the Farm.

He has settled into the routine at the Farm. Foxer is doing well with the other pups and enjoys the company of his human caretakers.

We are very happy to welcome these 3 boys into the MaPaw family! They are such wonderful pups and deserve a chance to find their forever families that will love and spoil them for the rest of their lives.

If you would like to learn more about Mobi, Baron or Foxer, please email us. We would love to share more as we learn about them.

Cody

Age: 4 Years
Sex: Male
Size: Average

Courtesy Post for Main Line Animal Rescue – Adopted!!!

Cody is a beautiful white husky with golden almond eyes. He is very energetic and needs to be with people who can spend time with him running off his excess energy and provide proper training to improve his manners.

Cody has a great personality and plays very nicely with dogs (his size or larger) in play-group. He plays in typical northern breed fashion. Due to his energy, Cody would do best in a home with older children.

Do you need more fresh air and exercise? Cody could be the pup you are looking for!

Please contact Main Line Animal Rescue directly if you are interested in adopting Cody.

Catching Up

Hello Puppers ~
It’s been a busy week again at MaPaw. We’ve had some new pups join MaPaw and we’ve had a lucky pup go to his new home.

First new pup is Ice. Ice is a beautiful pie-bald gal who is approximately 18 months old. She was surrendered to the shelter by her owners because she kept getting out. Since she was labeled an “escape artist”, our friends at the shelter felt it would be in Ice’s best interest to be adopted through MaPaw. She has a wonderful personality and LOVES playing with the other pups in her foster home. Ice is looking for a home with a 6 foot fence and another pup (her size or larger) as active as she is.

Next gal to join us was Aurora. This pup was found as a stray. We can’t believe that nobody is missing her ~ she is such a great pup! She is estimated to be 4 years old. Aurora enjoys the company of other dogs, but would do fine as an only dog as well. She is quite vocal and doesn’t mind telling you what she’s thinking.

Just two days after Aurora joined MaPaw, Clint followed. He had been surrendered by his owners when they could no longer afford to care for him. At 8 1/2 years, our friends at the shelter didn’t think his chances of being adopted were very good. We happily made space for Clint and soon he was making himself comfortable in his foster home. Clint prefers the company of ladies (pups), however, he would also do well as an only pup.

We’ve also added two pups to our Available Dogs page that are not with MaPaw, but are searching for their forever homes.

Jaycee is currently residing with York County SPCA. This beautiful Husky mix was caught in a leg trap. Sadly, her leg could not be saved, but that doesn’t slow her down at all. She absolutely adores people and spending time with them. Jaycee does prefer to be the only pup in the house. If you are looking for a great friend to spend your time with, Jaycee could be your gal!

Cody is a 4 year old male Siberian Husky with an amazing white coat and golden almond eyes. He is currently a resident of Main Line Animal Rescue, where he has been since January. Cody does have a lot of energy and is looking for an active home with a Sibe-savvy family. If you are looking for a great running companion, contact MLAR about Cody today!

Our lucky boy is Stryker. Stryker had been surrendered to the shelter with a history of seizures. Stryker is everyone’s friend ~ people and pups (his size or larger) alike. He enjoys a game of chase in the yard before settling for a snuggle with his humans. Stryker met his new brother and family last weekend. The two were great friends and arrangements were made for Stryker to go home this weekend. When volunteers, Linda and Pete, came to the Farm to pick Stryker up for the road trip, Stryker couldn’t stop hopping around. He was so excited to be going home, he couldn’t contain himself.

Stryker was adopted on May 5th.

Welcome to our new pups! Congratulations to Stryker and his new family!

Jaycee

Age: Adult
Sex: Female
Size: Average

Courtesy Post for York County SPCA – Adopted!

Poor Jaycee is the victim of an unforgiving leg trap!!! No animal should be subjected to such a cruel fate and Jaycee is a perfect example of the indiscriminate nature of such a contraption!

Luckily, this beautiful girl was rescued and the SPCA spared no expense opting to have her leg amputated in order to save her life. Jaycee has fully recovered from her harrowing and painful ordeal but now her heart aches to be healed. Jaycee has been given a second chance but she now needs a loving family in order to come full circle.

Jaycee has tons of love to give, but prefers to be an only pet. She hasn’t met a person she doesn’t love and she’s super affectionate, content to sit by your side and gaze lovingly into your eyes. Jaycee is a staff favorite and we’re sure you’ll fall for her just as we have!!!

Despite the loss of her front leg this gorgeous girl gets around just fine. Jaycee has suffered enough, won’t you make the decision to keep her safe and love her for a lifetime??? Long term relationship is an absolute must!!!

Please contact York County SPCA directly if you are interested in adopting Jaycee.

Do you have questions about Jaycee? Send York County SPCA an email.

Aurora

Age: Approximately 4 Years
Sex: Female
Size: Average

Congratulations Aurora!!!

Aurora is an approximate four year old beauty who somehow lost her family. This sweet, kind girl must surely be missed, however, nobody came to find her at the shelter and we were happy to be able to help.

She is currently in our care and is friendly to the other dogs and loves people. She is the “perfect” age ~ active, but not overly energetic. She loves car rides and spending time cuddling with her people. She will do well in a home as an only dog or with another canine companion.

Simply put, Aurora is a love and a joy to be around. She is housebroken and trustworthy in the house (well, she does like to sleep on the bed). If you are looking for a friend to share quality time with, this lady may be the one for you!

Ice

Age: 20 Months
Sex: Female
Size: Average

Congratulations Ice!!!

Click here to check out my video on YouTube!

Ice is a happy 20 month old Siberian puppy that is just full of energy and fun! This girl is a diva and she knows it. She is full of sweetness and spunk and is always on the go. She is a black and white splash coat with striking blue eyes and a personality that you will fall in love with. She is wonderful with other dogs her size and she loves people.

Due to Ice’s high energy level and constant curiosity, she must be placed in a home with another active, young canine companion that will keep up with her and join in her play. She will also require a sturdy, tall fence to keep her safe and sound. A sibe savvy home with a sense of humor and puppy patience is a plus!

This girl has a lifetime of love and laughter to give to a lucky home where she can fit in and be a very special part of the family.

Catching Up…

Hello Puppers ~
It has been a bit since our last update and there has been some wonderful news and new additions…

The first lucky pup to find his forever home was Caspian. He had been with MaPaw for a month before he was truly ready to begin his search for a forever home. Within days of making his debut on the MaPaw website, he soon became Mr. Popularity. It could have been his soulful eyes ~ everyone who saw his photo seemed to fall in love with him. Once you meet him, you’ll find that he has an incredible personality to match those eyes. Caspian has found a wonderful home with a canine housemate.

Caspian was adopted on March 31st.

Rehnquist was the next guy to find his new family. He was an owner surrender who remained with his family while we helped him find a new family. When our volunteers first met Rehnquist, they fell in love with his wonderful personality (and his typical Husky good looks). He is so loving and a true cuddler, which is good cause he’s helping heal some broken hearts in his new family who are dealing with the recent loss of their beloved canine family member.

Rehnquist was adopted on March 31st.

Next up was Luke, the boy that came to MaPaw so very sick and frail. After months of medications and TLC from his foster family, Luke was finally ready to begin his search. Luckily for Luke, he didn’t have to wait long. His new Mum had met him while he was still on medical hold and fell in love. Luke just needed the okay from the doctor that he was ready to go to his new home and meet his sibelings (he now has 3 of them!). Luke has certainly come a long way ~ from fighting for his life to being a spoiled and loved member of a wonderful family.

Luke was adopted on April 12th.

Bear was the next lucky boy. Bear had come to us after being rescued from a foreclosed home where his owner abandoned him. Understandably, Bear had some anxiety when alone and would pace and whine in new situations. He needed a family that understood his past and could give him the time he needed to become comfortable. At 10 years young, Bear was still an active member of his foster home who enjoyed playing with his canine housemates, but it is harder to place senior pups. When we got his new Mum’s application, we thought this might be a good match and after speaking with her, we knew it definitely was the perfect home for Bear. He would never be alone and would even have a canine sibling. Oh yeah ~ almost forgot the “spoiled to death” part.

Bear was adopted on April 14th.

Cassie wasn’t with us long before she started gathering admirers. All you had to do was meet this sweet little gal and you would fall in love! Cassie is a gorgeous red and white adult female estimated to be about 6 years old. She found herself at an area shelter after being picked up as a stray. Surprisingly, nobody ever came forward to take her home. She quickly settled into her foster home and was soon ready to begin the search for her forever home. Lucky for her, Sierra (a MaPaw alum) was thinking she might be ready for a sibeling to share her human Dad with. The gals met and they were quickly great friends. Cassie went home the following weekend.

Cassie was adopted April 22, 2012.

Our most recent happy tail is our goofy Kiernan. Kiernan came to MaPaw when his family found that they were not able to offer Kiernan the time and attention he needed. They asked us to help find him the perfect home and we think we’ve done just that. He has found a family that is looking forward to loving and spoiling him for a long time to come AND he has a canine sibling to play and nap with.

Kiernan was adopted April 28, 2012.

Congratulations to all of our lucky pups and their new families!

Now, let’s welcome the new pups to MaPaw…

On March 15th, 2 MaPaw pups returned to us. Meadow and Shelby had been adopted together and were settling in when a medical emergency struck their new family. The girls came back to MaPaw temporarily while their new Mum recuperated. When their Mum was strong enough, they returned to their home. Unfortunately, their new Mum realized that she was no longer able to care for the pair. Meadow and Shelby are a great pair who can be adopted together or separately. Shelby needs a canine companion since she is still shy and she learns from the pups around her.

On March 23rd, Cassie joined the MaPaw family. This beautiful gal was found as a stray and surprisingly, nobody ever came forward to claim her. We still can’t understand how someone wasn’t missing her. She is a gorgeous 6ish year old girl that is an absolute love. She enjoys a good play session with her canine housemates and loves spending time with the humans.

On March 31st, 3 dogs made their way to the Farm. First up, Zeva and Frankie made their way from a Delaware shelter to the Farm. Their stay was only temporary as they met their new foster homes there. Zeva is an adorable (and slightly mischievous) 6 month old redhead who is full of herself. Luckily, her foster home has a young Sibe which is a must for this little gal!

Frankie is a 10 month old handsome pup with a white coat and blue eyes. While we didn’t know it when we first met him, Frankie was not well. Frankie’s foster Mum noticed that Frankie was not acting like himself and quickly made a doctor’s appointment. After consulting with the doctor and several conversations, we decided to take him to emergency care where someone would be observing him for changes in his condition. Having recently watched Luke go through pneumonia and associated complications and losing Dora, we chose to be proactive with his care. Luckily, we got him to emergency care because he quickly progressed to having pneumonia in both lungs. After an overnight stay with IV fluids, antibiotics and lots of supportive care, Frankie was able to go back to his foster home. He just had his 2 week checkup and the doctor thinks that Frankie is doing very well. His lungs sounded clear and the doctor is optimistic that he will make a full recovery. We are excited for Frankie to be able to start the search for his forever family.

The third pup that joined us on the 31st was Tiger. Tiger is a 10 year old gal whose family found that the long hours that she was alone was making her anxiety worse. They were heartbroken, but felt it would be best for Tiger if she were able to find a family that would be able to spend time with her and reassure her. She is on medication for her anxiety and has settled into her routine at the Farm. Tiger has a wonderful personality and enjoys spending time with the humans.

Our busy weekend wasn’t quite done. We had one more pup to bring into MaPaw. Jasper is a 2 year old boy that is on the bigger side. He found himself at an area shelter because of his bigger size and energy level ~ the boy just wants to play! After the addition of a new baby, Jasper’s family felt that he needed to find a family that was better suited to find an outlet for his energy. This boy is a joy to be around and is constantly looking for somepup to play a game of chase with.

Our final new pup to tell you about is Blaze. Yup, it’s that same handsome Blaze that was adopted just 6 months ago. Unfortunately due to life changes, his family must find Blaze a new family. This handsome boy is almost 7 years old. He is at a wonderful age where he still loves to play, but also enjoys those quiet times too. Blaze enjoys the company of humans and canines alike and would do best in a home with another canine housemate to share his time with.

Welcome to our new pups! We look forward to sharing more Happy Tails for these pups with you soon!

If you’d like to know more about any of our newest pups, please contact us ~ we would love to tell you more about them!

Frankie

Age: 10 Months
Sex: Male
Size: Average

Congratulations Frankie!!!

Frankie is an adorable 10 month old pup that somehow lost his way. We can’t believe that nobody is looking for him ~ he is an absolute love!

Shortly after joining his MaPaw foster home, Frankie became lethargic. He was taken to the doctor where he was prescribed antibiotics. After discussing it further, we chose to send Frankie to the emergency hospital where he would be monitored 24 hours a day. We are so happy we made that decision. Within hours, Frankie had pneumonia in both lungs and we were told his condition was life threatening.

The next morning brought good news ~ our little fighter had made it through the night. Over the next 4 days, Frankie fought and gradually got a little better each day. Finally, he was well enough to travel back to his foster home.

Frankie has a long recovery ahead of him ~ 6 week course of several antibiotics and chest x-rays every 2 weeks. Now that he’s feeling a little better, his personality is starting to show.

Please check back for updates. We can’t wait to tell you more about Frankie as we get to know him.

Cassie

Age: 6 Years
Sex: Female
Size: Average

Congratulations Cassie!!!

Cassie is a stunning red and white Siberian with a personality to match. We fell in love with her as soon as we met her. Cassie was a stray and we are baffled that she was not found by her people, she obviously was a very cared for pet.

Cassie is estimated to be 6 years old ~ she is calm and loving and also frisky with the other pups; the perfect age. She is housebroken and trustworthy in the house. She is wonderful in the car, enjoys walks and just hanging out. She becomes attached to her people quickly and enjoys following them around and napping near them. She loves attention.

Cassie has settled into her foster home and is enjoying life. She is ready for a new home where she can love and belong ~ perhaps yours?

Jasper

Age: 2 Years
Sex: Male

Congratulations Jasper!!!

Jasper is a handsome black and white pup that is two years of age. After welcoming a new baby into the home, his family reluctantly decided to find Jasper a home that was better equipped to find outlets for his energy.

Jasper loves to play with his canine companions (his size or larger) and is always looking for a good game of chase.

He has a great personality and enjoys the company of humans. He is wonderful with older kids and bonds quickly. Jasper is looking for a family where he can share his unconditional love!
