Meet March’s Featured Dog…

This is Random ~

Random is a young male, black and white Siberian Husky with big baby blue eyes. He obviously was a household pet; he immediately made himself comfortable at his new foster home (loves the bed, likes the couch!). He is good with the other dogs, however, doesn’t really play with them and would seem to be very content as an only dog. He absolutely adores people and wants to be near them as much as possible.

Welcome Ray!

Hello Puppers ~
Yesterday, MaPaw picked up a new family member. This handsome guy is Ray.

Ray found himself at the shelter due to his human’s allergies. He had been at the shelter since early January! We can’t believe that this guy wasn’t adopted. He’s such a cool pup!

Ray is estimated to be 2 – 3 years old. He is getting along well with his foster sister and brothers. He loves romping in the yard with them and playing chase. Here’s Ray running with his foster brother, Juno –

He follows his foster Mom around the house and loves all of the attention he’s getting.

Ray is still settling into his foster home, so we’re learning more about him each day.

Welcome to MaPaw, Ray!!!

Congrats to Cocoa and Tundra!

Hello Puppers ~
I have wonderful news…. Last weekend 2 of our pups found their furever homes!

Our little firecracker, Cocoa, met her furever family last weekend. Her new parents take her for daily walks and make sure she gets LOTS of play time since our gal is a constant ball of energy.

Tundra had been removed from his previous home due to abuse, along with 9 other Siberians. His foster Mom, Deb, helped Tundra learn to trust again. This gentle guy has found a home where he will be constantly surrounded by love! Woo woo Tundra!!

Congratulations Cocoa and Tundra! We can’t wait for updates……

Another Busy Day….

Good evening Puppers ~

So today I was trying to figure out what I was going to write about in tonight’s blog. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn’t come up with anything. I suddenly realized that I was exhausted, so I thought that maybe if I took a little nap, I’d be able to come up with something good.

As you can see, I rested……

But still couldn’t come up with anything. Oh well.

Hopefully this weekend I’ll be able to talk about some lucky pup or pups finding their furever homes. Keep your paws crossed….

Two New Pups Join MaPaw

Good evening Puppers ~

I’m very excited to announce that 2 more pups have joined MaPaw! Both were picked up by their foster families on Wednesday and are settling in.

This handsome guy is Mako. He’s 2 years old and full of fun and energy! We are getting to know him and hope to have more to tell you soon. We can tell you that he’s got a great personality!

This beauty is Mika. She is a petite young lady who needs some reassurance. She is a bit timid, but we hope her foster family will be able to gently coax her out of her shell. We are getting to know Mika and will post updates soon.

Welcome Mako and Mika!!

Sibes Vibes and Well Wishes Needed

Siren joined MaPaw in 2003. She had been pushed out of a van into someone’s yard. As the good samaritan watched the van pull away, Siren crawled under a truck parked in the driveway. She was panting heavily and clearly was not well. Someone must have been looking over Siren that day because the first animal hospital the good samaritan called happened to have a kennel tech that volunteered with MaPaw. Although the kennel tech wasn’t working that day, her co-workers knew to call her at home and let her know about this poor pup. While on the phone with the good samaritan, our volunteer could hear poor Siren howling and crying. That’s how Siren got her name ~ because she sounded like a fire siren. Within an hour of being dropped off, Siren was at the animal hospital getting the medical care she needed. Once she was feeling better, she was transferred to her foster home.

When Doug had contacted MaPaw, it was almost instantly determined that Siren would be the best fit for Doug’s home. Doug needed a special dog and Siren was perfect! In fact, she is now a certified therapy dog and has even received an award of recognition.

Shortly after she joined Doug, it was discovered that she had mammary cancer. Doug stopped at nothing to get her healthy once again. He continued her doctor visits to monitor her health and continuously researched different methods of maintaining her health. Their love for each other is unconditional and is clearly evident when you see them together.

Sadly, it was recently discovered that Siren had another tumor. It was malignant and was surgically removed yesterday. Unfortunately, Doug can not be at her side as he so desperately wants. He can only wait for updates by phone from Siren’s temporary caretakers, Dave and Karen. Just after Christmas, Doug fell ill himself and has been in and out of the hospital. He is so concerned for Siren and waits each day to hear how she is doing.

The bond Doug and Siren share is unique. They are both fighters and have already overcome so much in their lives. Please keep Doug and Siren in your thoughts.

Sending Sibe Vibes and well wishes…

Congrats to Dusty!

Good evening Puppers ~

Thought I would share some more good news…..

Dusty, our 3 year old Shepherd mix found his furever home! This poor guy had wandered into a good samaritan’s yard and despite our best efforts, nobody claimed him. We couldn’t believe that nobody was looking for this guy. He’s such a cool pup ~ loves to play, gets along great with other dogs and loves people.

His new family met him and instantly fell in love. He’s settled into his new home nicely and is enjoying his family.

Good luck Dusty and we look forward to updates….

BTW ~ there may be new pups joining the MaPaw family. Check back for details…

Have a good night!

Woo Woo For The Gals….

Three of MaPaw’s gals have found their furever homes! Woo woo!!!

Delia had been with MaPaw since October 2008. This young lady is full of energy, which is great for her new sister Sibe! Delia was just waiting around for the perfect home and she certainly found it.

Nanook had been adopted last year, but had to return to MaPaw due to family issues. Her foster family welcomed her back with open arms. While they were sad to say goodbye to Nanook, her foster family couldn’t have asked for a better family to adopt her.

Miss Brandy had actually met her family a few weeks ago. They had decided that since they were going to be traveling, it would be in her best interest to wait until they came back to officially adopt her. Brandy is a very sensitive Sibe and doesn’t adjust to change as quickly as others. Her new parents understand that and will stop at nothing to be sure she is comfortable.

We can’t wait to hear updates on how our gals are doing. We’ll be sure to share photos and stories as soon as we get them!!

The Tale of Two Chloes

Hello Puppers ~

It seems that we have successfully confused many of our readers as to which Chloe is which. So one of our good friends, Aleeya, asked that we post pictures of both Chloes to help figure it out.

Princess Chloe (not the Chloe writing this post) is pictured here in her shades. Her pack includes Boston, Taser, Sage, Callie and Aero (a new foster who is in need of MAJOR TLC).

I, Princess Chloe’s Side-Sibe, am pictured below. My pack includes Niko, Scout and Delilah. I live about 45 minutes north of Princess Chloe.

Princess Chloe is about a year older than me. When I came into rescue, I had no name (I was a stray). Kathy took one look at me and said, “She looks just like my Chloe”. My foster Mum agreed, so my name became Chloe. I was just a pup when Pat and Kathy dropped me off at my foster home. I loved it ~ dogs to play with, a yard to dig in and a giant water bowl with an endless supply of water (I know because I kept trying to empty it on the kitchen floor and the darn thing kept filling up!). I liked it so much that after only 8 days, I convinced my foster parents that I needed to stay. They agreed and I’ve been here ever since.

I hope this helps with the confusion!!
