Cota is an easy-going older gentleman that enjoys car
rides,
hugs, being petted and walks. He spends much of his time
lounging around and taking naps in the sunlight. Cota
likes children and is currently living with boys ages
13 and 15. Cota will get excited and play with the other
dogs he is currently living with. When the other dogs get
too rowdy for Cota he will go lay down, content to just
watch
them play.
Cota is deaf. We are not sure if Cota has always been
deaf
or if he became deaf due to neglect and living outside
without proper shelter in all types of weather. We are
training Cota to come
to certain hand signals. He has learned that people are
good and he is happy to see us. He doesn't shy away from
us like he did when he first came into rescue. He is a
very
happy boy and will greet you with a play bow and a
wagging tail. Cota is reliable in the house and usually
signals when he has to go out. When left alone he is
gated
in the kitchen area so he is comfortable. Cota is not
crate trained, does not like crates and he will get upset
and cry very loudly when crated.
Cota is usually very quiet. He will sometimes talk if he
wants something, another dog is annoying him or during
play. Cota has beautiful ice blue eyes. He walks well on
a leash and will make a very nice companion for a laid
back family who likes to go for short walks around the
block. He is past his high energy puppy years and is a
very calm, happy-go-lucky boy who loves everyone. Cota is
so happy when visitors come by and he tries to poke his
head out
the door to greet them. He will lean against you asking
for you
to pet and brush him.
Since Cota is deaf he cannot hear basic commands to come,
sit, etc. and he will need a special family willing to
understand his special needs and continue to help him.
